The “Taiwan Rubber Industries Association” was established with 34 initiating members.

The association established test lab for our members. Services provided included chemicaland physical property tests on items ranging from raw materials, semi-finished products to finished products and quality inspections on rubber products such as bicycles tires exported to Thailand and Vietnam.

The “Taiwan Rubber Trading Co., Ltd.” was founded by members jointly as an effort to overcome the short-handed international trading environment in Taiwan, foreign exchange control, inconvenience in material purchase and short supply of capitals for importing and exporting businesses.

The “Testing Methods for Exported Rubber Products” were approved by Ministry of Economic Affairs; rubber products to be exported were tested and certified by the Association’s lab for exporting certificates.

The Association’s lab was upgraded into the “Taiwan Rubber Research & Testing Center (TRC)” which was registered in the following year. TRC started to receive cases from Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspections for tests of rubber products exported to Middle East, and the service spectrum expended with government policies and market demands.

The Association founded the “Rubber Industries” Monthly as a platform for technical reports, market information, government policy propaganda and communications between members.

The members related to tire manufacturing raised a fund to establish the “Foundation of Waste Tire Process, ROC” for waste tire management and better environment. It was renamed the “Institute of Environment and Resources.”

The first website of the Association, www.tria.org.tw, was established as an online information platform.

The Association hosted the first International Rubber Industry Exhibition and International Rubber Summit Forum.

The “National Standards Development Committee” was established to develop CNS for rubber industries and connect with international industrial standards for effective management of product quality and expansion of international markets. The “Education and Training Committee” was established to promote knowledge economy, encourage workers to improve themselves, satisfy the needs for innovative R&D talents of the industries and deal with the needs of the unemployed to improve their employability.
The purpose of this committee is to provide the technical manpower with solid technical training for our members, improve their ability of technical development and process improvement, and increase their added values and competitiveness.

The “Rubber Industries Technology Handbook” was published as a tool book for refinement, better value, innovation and R&D of the industries.

The second International Rubber Forum.
The “Vocabulary of Rubber Industry Technology” was published as a tool book for recipe research, product marketing, industrial heritage and education of professional talents in the field of rubber industries.

Renamed as “Taiwan Rubber & Elastomer Industries Association” for extended service spectrum.

The “Rubber Industries Technology－Tyre” was published as a tool book for step forward of tyre industry.
